How to Increase Level of Schooling for Girls
Education is one of the most important human rights, and everyone has the right to be educated regardless of gender and social status. However, many girl students that especially live in the rural areas of Turkey cannot have education for a variety of reasons. For example, there are no schools or there are just elementary schools in some places, and many students’ parents cannot meet the expenses of education. For these reasons, authorities should focus their attention on solving the problem of lower level of schooling for girls in Turkey.
One possible way to solve this problem would be to open schools that involve every level of education from primary schools to universities all over Turkey even in the smallest towns. Thus, parents that do not give their children permission to go to another city to receive even high school education may give their children permission to go to university to receive even doctoral degree. Nevertheless, it is not adequate for just the government to open schools unless parents are educated. Therefore, above all illiterate parents that live in countryside should be educated with regard to the significance of girl’s education. If so, level of schooling for girls might reach the desired level.
Moreover, it would be a good idea, if government, institutions, and organizations gave scholarship to female students. In this way, students whose their families cannot meet the expenses of education, and who cannot get financial support from their families in spite of their fortune can decide their educational life themselves. Thanks to scholarships, more female students exercise the right to education. In the later years, every female student will raise children that are aware of their all rights. Eventually, the number of educated females increases significantly, and it is no longer a problem.
As a result, in addition to all these, when the society’s perspective on the girls’ education changes; it will not a problem related to gender discrimination in education. Maybe, it will not be remembered that there was a problem about education.
