Normal and New Normal
A pandemic started in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019: Covid-19. In a few months, it dominated whole world, and it continues to influence all people. Although drug companies have developed vaccines to struggle with the disease, still everyday thousands of people die of Covid-19. We live in the same world. However, nearly everything changed in our lives, and maybe nothing will be like the same before, anymore.
One of the biggest changes in our lives is online education. Whereas students went to their schools for their educations which are under equal terms before Covid-19, now they who have the Internet connection attend their lessons in their homes. In this case, education looks like easily accessible, but it is the fault. More students cannot attend their lessons compared to before Covid-19, because they do not have any devices for distance education. It can be said that there is more educational inequality unlike before Covid-19.
Another changing in our lives is our social relations. Because we might be infected in crowded places, we must keep our social distance. Therefore, we cannot meet even our relatives and close friends as before. Until last year, people had come together in their events such as wedding and funeral ceremony. On the contrary, now people cannot gather around the same table even in feasts. As a consequence of these, people are doomed to loneliness.
There are also some differences in terms of economy. One of these is unemployment. Because governments impose restrictions about working hours to struggle Covid-19, companies have a lower-income compared to before Covid-19. Thus, many employees are dismissed by their boss to reduce the costs, and it leads to increase rate of unemployment.
To sum up, people have changes in numerous fields from the beginning of pandemic, and these changes look like permanent. It would appear that instead of waiting to bring back, people should to accustom to new normal.
